Job Description:

GDS (Global Data Sciences) is a PayPal unit specializing in development of data solutions as well as data-science, Machine-Learning and AI solutions for multiple domains across PayPal - Risk, Fraud, Credit Sales, Marketing, Customer-support, Product experience, Global Operation and more. We use data, technology and innovative machine learning algorithms to drive business results and improve customer experience.

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to be part of the GDS Engineering Team. The candidate will be responsible for analysis, design, development and testing of application code. The candidate will interact with global cross-functional teams to address complex business requirements. The individual should be self-motivated, possess creative problem-solving skills as well as the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.

Responsibilities:

In this role, the individual will be part of the engineering team within GDS and have the following responsibilities.

  • Perform E2E test activities, working closely with developers and data scientists on a complex and innovative analytics applications

  • Design and perform test plans for testing system back-end components, ensuring product’s quality and coverage.

  • Develop and maintain automated test suites, using Python, Java & Scala

  • Simulate E2E scenarios using various platforms & technologies

  • Report on test progress and bugs found

  • Share knowledge with other team members within GDS.

Job Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in manual & automation testing

  • Team player, agile, flexible, multi-tasking, passion for learning new areas

  • Excellent analytics, problem-solving and debugging skills

  • Java/Python/Scala development experience

  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux

  • Experience working with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop / Spark / Hive / Kafka / HBase / Elastic Search stack - Advantage

  • Experience with data analytics practices – Advantage

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to take initiative to contribute beyond basic responsibilities.
