Commerce Services group within PayPal’s Omni Payments product organization is chartered to onboard and enable tens of millions of PayPal’s merchants of all scale and help them grow their business. We are embarking on an ambitious journey to unify Onboarding and Servicing experience for our merchants across our entities, such : PayPal, Braintree, Hyperwallet, etc. We are looking for strong technologist who are passionate about solving complex and challenging problems. As a senior engineer of our framework team, you will work with architects, product managers and other engineers to build new and improve existing frameworks that will be used by application teams to build experiences and robust software solutions and dependable products for PayPal’s merchants and consumer. You’ll estimate engineering efforts, work with product managers to prioritize projects, plan and drive implementations, and triage production issues. You need to be dynamic, collaborative and curious, as you’ll work in a fast-paced environment where continuous experimentation and innovation are a given. You are expected to be a self-starter and a team player, with a strong drive for results and continuous innovations. You should be able to deliver work with minimal supervision and work with geographical distributed teams in collaborative manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work with Paypal Developers to identify problems and develop innovative solutions that increase Developer Productivity in the form of frameworks, libraries and tools
  • Design to build for high performance on web and mobile platforms following best practices and standards established in the industry.
  • Demonstrate meticulous documentation for all development in the team.
  • Understand the domain at breadth and depth, to be able to solve exhaustively for use cases and product needs.
  • Provide technical and domain thought-leadership and mentoring to other junior members of the team.
  • Work effectively in an agile development cycle.
  • Review and approve software design and implemented code of other peer engineers.
  • Evangelise the frameworks and tools built in the team for adoption, with Paypal Developers in the org.

Job Requirements:

  • B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science or equivalent with 5+ years of software industry experience. 
  • Experience developing frameworks, libraries or tools that demonstrate generic/reusable interfaces and backward compatibility
  • Candidate must be able to work independently as well as open to peer programming to Design, implement, test, document, release software used at scale.
  • Open source software experience a big plus. Please share your public github profile.
  • Strong JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3, Node.js skills, with GraphQL experience preferred.
  • Experience with UI frameworks like React/Backbone/Angular.
  • Experience with cross-browser, cross-platform, and design constraints on web/mobile.
  • Experience with Unit and Automation testing frameworks.
  • Good understanding of Web Services, SOAP, REST APIs, etc.
  • Strong computer science foundational knowledge in Data Structures, Algorithms, Object-Oriented Design Principles, SQL/NoSQL Databases, etc.
  • Strong problem solving skills and being open minded about solving a technical problem in more than one way.
  • Ability to work on different applications with quick context switching and being able to debug complicated applications with relative ease.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to produce clear, concise communications and documentation.
  • Highly effective at working in cross-functional groups and getting results in geographically distributed matrix organisations
