The Payments Live Operations team is a preferred group of PayPal technologists always striving to do the right thing for all our customers. The Team provides a unique opportunity to learn PayPal’s Payments system by Deeper triaging the Live Issues from various sources. This is one of the core team in Live Ops involved in providing the correction strategies and writing Hotfix for recovering the impacted transactions. There is also an opportunity to explore in innovation space to ensure better process automation on reducing the Manual efforts using latest technologies.

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Triage and troubleshoot Live issues for PayPal products and applications on the live site.
  • Collaborate with product development teams and various business groups to prioritize, identify and develop reliability and supportability improvements.
  • Assure the overall quality and integrity of all the Paypal’s payment components.
  • Engage in the automation of daily activities that drive operational excellence and ensure highly productive operating procedures.
  • Support and enhance payment monitoring, alerting escalation mechanisms.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross vertical teams such as Product Management, Product Development, Site Reliability and Operations.
  • Provide and/or review daily, weekly, and quarterly platform goals/metrics to stakeholders.
  • Weekend and after-hours support, on a rotating schedule, is required.

Job Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in software product development.
  • Strong programming skills and expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring and Hibernate
  • Expertise in web applications React JS, Node JS
  • Splunk dashboarding skills
  • Knowledge on data modelling skills with relational databases, elastic search (Kibana), Hadoop
  • Experience with REST API’s, Web Services, Unit Testing and build tools.
  • Good understanding and hands on experience with databases such as MySQL/ Oracle etc.
  • Strong understanding of web-based programming languages.
  • Rich object-oriented design and analysis skills.
  • Understanding or experience in Messaging systems like KAFKA, AMQ, JMS etc.   
  • Passion to work on Operations to identify issues and help resolve customer pain points.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to grasp and convey complex product requirements or technical concepts.
  • Knowledge/experience with GitHub. Knowledge/experience with Service Oriented Architectures.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, iterative development environment.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities.
  • Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus.
  • Good knowledge in online payments and related domains is a plus.
