It is our goal to package the complexity of our payment system in a simple integration for our customers and provide a seamless checkout experience. The Vault Team is looking for a passionate Software Engineer to help us build the unified payment instrument storage platform that will be used by merchants and customers across all of PayPal inc.

The Vault Team:

The Vault Team is building a scalable, highly available instrument storage platform that is accessible to merchants and customers through APIs across PayPal, Braintree, and beyond. We want to make it as easy and safe as possible for returning customers to store and use their payment instruments wherever they want.

We are looking for Engineers who are passionate about building and owning well-crafted, reliable commerce APIs that scale. Our services are primarily built in Java, but we also work with applications written in Ruby on Rails, Clojure, and Node.

Responsibilities include designing and implementing external and internal enterprise-level API services, collaborating with sales and engineering stakeholders across all of PayPal, and helping ensure our services remain available for all of our users.

What we look for in you:

    • BS/BA or equivalent in Computer science with 3+ years professional software development experience.

    • Knowledge of object-oriented design and design patterns, and programming skills.

    • Good understanding of web services and SOA related standards like REST/OAuth/JSON/GraphQL.

    • Experience working with relational and non-relational databases.

    • Ability to build solutions utilizing an agile approach: close relationships with Product Managers, communicating and digesting real time feedback, and working smart to adjust to evolving needs.

    • Payments and e-commerce familiarity. An opinion on what makes for a good customer experience.

    • Proven problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Ability to operate effectively both independently as well as within a team.

    • Excellent knowledge of one or more high-level programming languages. Java is preferred but not required.
