The Solution Engineer is part of the Global Professional Service (GPS) organization. He/She reports to the Brazilian Global Professional Services Senior Manager. The main responsibility of the Solution Engineer is to create PayPal payments solutions for merchants using PayPal’s standards products. It is expected creative solutions and out of the box ideas for payments system integration. Another important responsibility is to localize PayPal products for Brazil. This position is not a software development position, but coding skills are required. Responsibilities • Provides solution proposals based on internal strategy and client requirements. • Interacts directly with clients to understand and articulate business requirements. • Interacts with additional internal key stakeholders, including Product Management, Developers, Risk, Sales, Operations, etc. to address specific client business requirements or new product features. • Gathering business requirements and providing solution proposals to external partners and debugging merchant codes to certificate it. • Research internally proper PayPal products to be localized and lead the localization of PayPal products for the Brazilian Market.


  • Understanding of technical concepts and payment processing.
  • Experience with software application debugging, implementation, troubleshooting and Programming logic (SSL, JSON, HTML, CSS, HTTP, JS).
  • Experience implementing technology based on APIs, REST, SOAP, NVP, Webhooks.
  • Highly skilled at applying consultative methodologies and techniques to solve integration pain points. Experience in drawing API’s sequence diagrams, API’s calls flows, Business processes flow and lead the user experience designer to apply PayPal best practices and your vision for the client.
  • Quickly assess and troubleshoots integration issues. Foresee in the solution phase the gaps which will be needed to be close in the implementation phase.
  • Gather client requirements with little assistance from Sales and translate those requirements to a non-technical language. Proactivity when connecting with the client and solutioning for them.
  • Leverages customer relationship and time management skills to effectively work with multiple external clients.
  • Effectively documents solution designs for external and internal consumption. And effectively present PayPal solutions to clients helping the sales team to close deals.
  • Translates business requirements into specs.
  • It is expected from a Senior position also the tech lead skill, guiding, helping and mentoring juniors team members.


  • 4 to +6 years of Pre-Sales and/or Solution engineering and/or software Architecture
  • High presentation skills (Presenting to Business units and external Technical teams)
  • Technical knowledge about JavaScript, any other programming language, SSL, JSON, HTTP, HTML, CSS, APIs, REST, SOAP, NVP and Webhooks.
  • Payment integration knowledge is a nice to have skill.
  • Good communication in Portuguese and English (writing, reading and speaking)
  • Basic PayPal Checkout knowledge -

Language requirements:

  • Portuguese native Speaker.
  • English proficiency
