PayPal is seeking a Senior Manager to join its Tax Operations team. This position, reporting to the Senior Director, Tax Operations, will work collaboratively with the other members of the Tax Operations team, as well as PayPal’s broader tax department and Corporate Development team, to manage various domestic tax compliance and tax reporting matters with respect to the company’s acquisitions, as well as PayPal’s ongoing operations.

Job Description:

PayPal is seeking a Senior Manager to join its Tax Operations team. This position, reporting to the Senior Director, Tax Operations, will work collaboratively with the other members of the Tax Operations team, as well as PayPal’s broader tax department and Corporate Development team, to manage various domestic tax compliance and tax reporting matters with respect to the company’s acquisitions, as well as PayPal’s ongoing operations.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage domestic income tax compliance matters (federal/state tax returns, disclosure statements, calculation of SBC deductions, etc.) with respect to acquired companies
  • Review/prepare purchase accounting calculations for US and foreign acquisitions
  • Review/prepare Sec 382 studies
  • Review/prepare TCA studies
  • Review/prepare buy-in tax calculations
  • Review state income tax returns and supporting workpapers (state apportionment, state modifications, etc.)
  • Review state income tax provision calculations
  • Research various federal and state income tax matters/tax planning, track and analyze domestic tax legislation
  • Manage R&D credit study
  • Manage global FAS 123R deferred tax calculation
  • Work with various groups within the tax department, Corporate Development, and finance to gather data needed to support tax calculations
  • Identify and support process improvement initiatives to increase overall efficiency
  • Various ad-hoc projects as they arise
  • Train, mentor and develop direct report(s)

Job Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or Masters in Taxation a plus
  • 9+ years in Big 4 public accounting and/or publicly held MNC of progressive experience in federal/state income tax compliance and tax provision matters
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to collaborate as part of a team.
  • People management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Experience with Corptax and SAP a plus
