Job Description

Fueled by a fundamental belief that having access to financial services creates opportunity, PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) is committed to democratizing financial services and empowering people and businesses to join and thrive in the global economy. Our open digital payments platform gives PayPal’s 392 million active account holders the confidence to connect and transact in new and powerful ways, whether they are online, on a mobile device, in an app, or in person. Through a combination of technological innovation and strategic partnerships, PayPal creates better ways to manage and move money, and offers choice and flexibility when sending payments, paying or getting paid. Available in more than 200 markets around the world, the PayPal platform, including Braintree, Venmo and Xoom enables consumers and merchants to receive money in more than 100 currencies, withdraw funds in 56 currencies and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in 25 currencies.

Our Change Communications Center of Excellence team develops effective communications strategies to guide employees and leaders through current change and toward the company’s future vision, as well as to address external stakeholders’ needs in relation to a change initiative. As a Senior Manager on this team, you will be responsible for developing and driving comprehensive change-communication plans for multiple initiatives and rolling up your sleeves to execute those plans.

About Us

PayPal has remained at the forefront of the digital payment revolution for more than 20 years. By leveraging technology to make financial services and commerce more convenient, affordable, and secure, the PayPal platform is empowering more than 300 million consumers and merchants in more than 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.

At PayPal, we believe that achieving our mission begins from the inside out by prioritizing the needs of our employees and reinforcing an authentic culture centered on our four core values of innovation, collaboration, wellness, and inclusion.

Job Description

In order to deliver on our mission to democratize financial services and maintain our strategic health as a company, we need to constantly evolve to meet the changing needs of our customers and employees – and to lead within our sector and our ecosystem. We’re in the business of change, and our Change Communications Center of Excellence (CoE) team develops effective communications strategies to guide employees and leaders through current change and toward the company’s future vision, as well as to address external stakeholders’ needs in relation to a change initiative. We are an in-house consulting team that supports partners with consistent and clear communication approaches and expert implementation – proactively employing effective communication techniques to help PayPal evolve. As a Senior Manager on this team, you will be responsible for developing and driving comprehensive change-communication plans for multiple initiatives and rolling up your sleeves to execute those plans. We are looking for a communication expert who can also develop trust with and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, identify risks and develop mitigation strategies, and bring a fresh perspective in helping employees understand the company’s direction and why change will help reach desired business outcomes.

What you will do:

  • Strategize ongoing methods for building a consistent understanding of PayPal’s direction and priorities, as well as building a culture of evolution

  • Design change communications strategies and plans that align to larger organizational goals; prepare communications assets; manage multiple initiatives at the same time

  • Provide counsel and direction on internal and external change communications needs

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders within the business and functions, as well as with change-management teams across PayPal

  • Provide strategic counsel on employee change impacts and advise on potential internal and external risks and mitigation strategies

  • Consult and coach project teams on employee communications strategy, resistance, and risks

  • Facilitate learning within the Change Communications CoE and across partner groups, including providing recommendations for continuous improvement on processes and methodologies

  • Build a network of contacts across the company to keep a pulse on employee sentiment

Qualities of the right candidate for this role:

  • 5-8 years of change communications experience with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts, preferably in a global setting

  • Passionate about the power of communications to affect lasting change while also enriching the organization’s culture

  • Has a view that encompasses the entire ecosystem, not only the parameters of the change initiative

  • Ability to build strategic working relationships; has exceptional interpersonal communication skills

  • Executive presence; comfortable working closely with, and providing counsel to, senior leaders

  • Emotional maturity to influence and drive alignment, demonstrating a strong understanding of organizational issues and challenges

  • Loves to write and can adjust voice, tone, and style to suit the need

  • Comfortable in ambiguous situations in fast-paced environments

  • Enjoys a team environment where collaboration is the norm

We're a purpose-driven company whose beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We hold ourselves to our One Team Behaviors which demand that we hold the highest ethical standards, to empower an open and diverse workplace, and strive to treat everyone who is touched by our business with dignity and respect. Our employees challenge the status quo, ask questions, and find solutions. We want to break down barriers to financial empowerment. Join us as we change the way the world defines financial freedom.
