Threat Management manages threats to the company by advising executives in making threat-informed and mitigating decision to protect the enterprise, products, and customer. Threat Management proactively protects PayPal from on-going and emerging threats through data-driven decisions based on cyber intelligence data, data analytics, and threat assessments. The organization consists of multi-disciplinary subject matter experts with a broad spectrum of industry experiences and deep analytical and quantitative expertise. Threat Management is seeking a product abuse engineer. The product abuse engineer will use a variety of techniques and data sources to identify and quantify product abuse and prescribe product abuse mitigation measures. Key responsibilities include: • Identify, research, and analyze product abuse • Develop techniques for detecting product abuse patterns • Model product abuse threats, including tools, tactics and techniques • Create documentation for tracking product abuse activity • Closely collaborate with the Fraud Defense Command Center and Global Fraud Risk teams on observed abuse trends

Job Requirements

  • Ability to independently conduct analysis and research into product

  • 2+ years of experience of anti-fraud, network security, anti-automation or related field

  • 2+ years of experience of Information Security or equivalent field

  • Excellent, concise verbal and written communication

  • Proficient with common network security technologies, such as web application firewalls or rate limiting

  • Proficient with HTTP and other common web communication protocols

  • Preferred: Proficiency with Splunk search language

  • Preferred: Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL data warehouse solutions and associated query language

  • Ideal candidate is a team oriented, self-directed continual learner with a passion for asking big questions and creating solutions to find answers
