PayPal is seeking a talented, innovative, and passionate security engineer to join the Cryptography Platform team. As a security engineer you will help design, build and maintain the next generation of hardware security module services, secrets management services and certificate life cycle management services. You will specialize in building highly scalable and durable environments to support PayPal global growth. You will contribute to the design, deployment, and operational support of these services. You will collaborate with extremely talented peers to support our customers’ business and technical requirements and you will own the delivery and execution of service excellence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, implementation, testing, deployment and operational support of highly scalable and performant cryptographic and PKI services
  • Build servers and deploy applications in on-prem and cloud environments
  • Develop and maintain service level documentation
  • Integrate applications and services into monitoring tools and set up service level reporting and alerting
  • Implement robust capabilities to discover, identify and predict issues & failures related to certificates usage
  • Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure seamless deployments
  • Manage service life cycle management and capacity planning over the life of the services
  • Develop automation capabilities to enhance validation and operationalization of cryptographic and PKI services 
  • Rapid prototype and experiment with new technologies and capabilities to deliver next-generation services
  • Be the subject matter expert and provide guidance to team members and key stakeholders

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting IT Infrastructure
  • Excellent working knowledge of PKI, certificate management and certificate stores
  • Hardware Security Module (HSM) knowledge and experience
  • Working experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Working experience of databases (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, etc)
  • Deploying and troubleshooting enterprise scale applications
  • Working knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, SSH, etc.-Excellent documentation and project management skills
  • Experience with scripting languages such as shell scripting, Python, Perl, etc.
  • Integration of applications into IAM and Monitoring tools
  • Understanding of system BCP/DR
