As the Sr. Director Checkout Product Management, this person will lead the most revenue generating product for the company. This individual will define strategy, priorities, and deliver best in class merchant checkout experiences. This individual need to solve for differentiation and value in each aspect of the role. This leader will focus on strategic products and lead creation of new patterns to keep PayPal’s merchants in leading position on checkout experiences. This leader will be accountable for 3-year operating plan and roadmap. The leader will be responsible for managing risks and creating mitigation strategies involving multiple products and platforms. Implementation of roadmaps & programs spanning across multiple teams and geographic locations will be critical to this role's success. The role is responsible for defining business, product and technical strategies for checkout products and platforms. The Senior Director Checkout Product Management will be responsible for managing and interacting with business and technical stakeholders within PayPal branded experience teams, Platform teams and Segment teams. The ideal candidate is a Product Manager leader who has experience & knowledge leading merchant facing product experiences. This individual will solve business and technical challenges, deal with ambiguity, and deliver products at scale to serve 300+ Million customers. The ideal candidate will coach & mentor their team and develop next generation product leaders.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Thinker and Innovator:

  • Formulate a long and short-term product strategy to ensure delivery of customer outcomes

  • Identify business opportunities with new product and platform capabilities for merchants

  • Responsible for Global checkout products serving 300+M consumers. PayPal branded checkout products are omni channel: web, mobile, devices, etc.

  • Deliver 200+M incremental revenue in next 12 months

  • Partner with Sales team to identify new growth opportunities for merchants

  • Engage with Large Enterprises such as Facebook, Google, etc. to identify new product partnership opportunities

Customer centricity, Value creation:

  • Create superior differentiation and value in PayPal checkout offering

  • Partner with business and sales leaders to deliver locally relevant product offering

  • Develop trusted relationships with technology leaders, business leaders and stakeholders to drive optimized product delivery. This includes supporting and holding development /engineering resources accountable for their responsibilities within the products they are responsible for

  • Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner

Lead-and-Coach the team:

  • Leading and inspiring a high-achieving product management team

  • This person leads a team of 10+ product managers, including couple of Directors. In addition, we anticipate 2-3 more positions to opened up under this leader.

  • Develops loyalty and commitment in others by communicating clear expectations, developing and mentoring direct reports, and setting an example in one’s own behavior

Requisite Experience:

  • Strong Product Management track record in high volume, high pressure environment.

  • Proven results in delivery on product capabilities. Strong business and technical acumen for merchant-facing products

  • Global mindset with ability to think about culture, language, and other aspect when putting the Customer at the center of all outcomes.

  • Experience with new and emerging technologies, especially expertise on mobile experiences

  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization and across multiple domains.

  • 12+ years’ experience as Product Manager with 6+ years direct leadership experience

  • Mobile app product experience is a plus

  • Passion for leading and developing direct reports, and providing guidance, consultation, and opportunities towards improving their professional skill set.

  • Ability to lead and influence direct reports remotely.

  • Excellent time management skills with ability to manage a large, diverse set of to-do’s – vigorously prioritize, stay on top of multiple work streams, monitor progress, hold owners accountable.

  • Communication style motivated by brevity and purposeful outcomes with experience interfacing with executives.

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally when needed

  • MBA or MS is preferred

  • Payments experience is a plus but not required

  • Demonstrated executive leadership experience with ability to lead, inspire and motivate a global team to achieve world-class performance.

  • Ability to quickly adapt to rapidly changing environments while serving as a steady point of continuity for the team.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent relationship management skills in a challenging, fast paced environment

  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, influencing and decision-making skills and high attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills to gain trust, achieve business objectives and work directly with a broad group of managers throughout the company.

  • Demonstrate high energy/creativity and entrepreneurial skills.
