PayPal is seeking an experienced, driven, and ambitious sales leader for our Middle East and Africa markets. The individual will be the face of PayPal in Middle East and Africa, and will be responsible for holistically growing the business, identifying and developing new business opportunities, and negotiating agreements with key external stakeholders, merchants, and business partners. In this exciting role, the leader will be responsible for scoping potential growth opportunities for PayPal in the region, driving internal excitement and prioritization of resources for the region and ultimately delivering on the growth. This would require the individual to work cross-functionally with other senior stakeholders and leaders in the organization. In addition, the individual will be responsible for building strategic relationships with key leaders in merchant organizations and partners at the C-level and driving pipeline activity in the region for both sales and market development. PayPal is currently present in 60+ markets in Middle East & Africa. While the business and e-commerce landscape are relatively nascent in the region, it is experiencing hypergrowth, and the role presents an opportunity to drive the next S-curve of growth for PayPal’s business in the region.

Business Acumen and Strategy

  • Define and implement the business strategy to drive and maximize growth within Middle East & Africa and establish the company as the leading payment solution provider in the cross-border payment space.
  • Identify new business growth opportunities and clearly articulate the benefits which can be driven
  • Responsible for the overall P&L of the business including establishing business and revenue goals and strategies

People Leadership

  • Building a high-performance sales team capable of delivering and exceeding targets on an ongoing basis
  • Leading and motivating a team of senior managers with diverse backgrounds, as well as knowing how to attract, recognize, and reward outstanding people.

Prospecting & Pipeline Management

  • Managing sales pipeline and driving discipline around prospecting and onboarding new customers, as well as relationship-based growth of existing portfolio
  • Ability to “lean-in” with key internal stakeholders to accelerate deals in the pipeline
  • Coordinating with counterparts globally to contribute to international initiatives and sharing best practices.

Merchant Orientation & Relationship Management

  • Drive “operational excellence” by leveraging regional infrastructure to maximize efficiency and synergy of the organizations


  • Representing the company both internally and externally to communicate key business objectives, build partnerships and seek resources.
  • Working with colleagues across International Markets and the global organization to ensure adequate resources are secured to achieve business goals

Negotiating & Influencing

  • Partner with all affiliates to cross/up-sell user for merchandise as well as payment volume.

Requisite Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to think with long-term strategic mindset, while showing strong execution capabilities to deliver on targets
  • Good analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Appropriate industry knowledge of payments and eCommerce.
  • Experience in business building, partnerships, risk management and regulatory requirements would be advantageous.
  • People leadership experience leading and building high-performance sales teams
  • Must have an excellent command of both verbal and written English. Proficiency of one of the commonly used languages in the region is highly desirable, but not necessary.
  • Must have an undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline and a MBA qualification from a highly regarded institution.
