Are you a technical woman who has taken a career break? Or perhaps you have taught yourself to code, but you don’t have any industry work experience. If this describes you, then you should apply for our Recharge program. Specifically, we are looking for women who have been out of the workforce for at least 1-2 years but are ready to jump back into technical roles.

Recharge is a 16-week paid program which provides individuals who want to return to the workforce an opportunity to expand their experience and network. The program will start in October 2017.

Xoom's remittance, bill pay, and phone reload products enabled customers to send over $7 billion last year, providing an essential financial link to family and friends in over 50 countries. The Financial Services Engineering team is responsible for the payment processing for each of these transactions, as well as the safekeeping of the back-office data associated with them. We integrate with a variety of external services, with a technology stack including Java, MySQL, Spring, and microservice-based REST APIs. We are looking for an exceptional staff software engineer to help design, build, and maintain rock-solid payments, accounting, and treasury systems as we expand our products and services.   • Full-time position dedicated to the design, implementation, and maintenance of business-critical financial systems.
  • Work with other engineers, managers, QA, and operations to ensure that our financial systems meet our reliability, accuracy, and performance goals.
  • Help identify and fix performance, scalability, and other issues in a time critical environment.
  • Be able to independently design, code and test complex features
  • Bonus points for prior experience in back-office financial systems
  • Ability to work in a small, closely-knit team in the fast-changing world of financial services
  • Show pride of ownership and strive for excellence in everything they do
  • At least 3 to 5  years past professional engineering experience Extensive experience in object-oriented design and development, preferably in Java
  • Experience with Agile development and knowledge of Agile principles
  • Focus on producing well-tested code, including unit tests and integration tests
  • Experience with REST APIs and microservice architecture is a plus, as is knowledge of the Spring
  • Framework and SQL 
  • Education:  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related Science degree
