PayPal is looking for a proactive and experienced individual to join its Global Payments team as a Product Strategy and Merchant Success Manager. PayPal offers best-in-class, end-to-end solutions for merchants of all segments and sizes. The Product Strategy and Merchant Success Manager would help our merchants maximize their revenue potential with PayPal by tracking and monitoring payment performance, investigating opportunities, and recommending a product adoption strategy that maximizes payment success. This role would require working closely with cross-functional product teams, analytics, merchant facing sales leaders as well as reporting out to senior leadership and to relevant internal and external audiences.

A successful candidate would be required to become a subject matter expert and develop a key understanding of factors that drive business success for PayPal’s merchants. The candidate would also play a key role in helping the team to refine and develop its strategy, and to explore ways to maximize its impact. This involves grappling with difficult questions around scaling, opportunity identification and packaging product solutions. The candidate should be able to clearly articulate and defend their recommendations in front of leadership, and then drive any follow-on execution with cross-functional teams. They would also be responsible for managing and updating the material and resources that the team relies on to be successful, such as: sales collateral, trend and performance analysis, market research and competitive analysis.

This role will be located at PayPal headquarters in San Jose, CA.


  • Track payment success trends, investigate optimization opportunities and recommend a product adoption strategy for merchants of all segments; prepare the content for internal and external leadership and business reviews.
  • Provide strategic and tactical inputs to shape product roadmaps.
  • Drive the operational cadence for the group, with activities including measure and track critical KPIs, competitive analysis, market research and benchmarking.
  • Liaison between product, sales, marketing, pricing, PR and external merchant facing teams.
  • Create product adoption strategies and operational activities for all segments of merchants including product packaging.
  • Create requirements for analytics and insights team to derive business and performance reports.
  • Provide insights to the business through analytics and market research as required (e.g. market, customer, competitive), and use this to inform the organization of their strategic implications.
  • Shape the product roadmap, working with cross-functional teams to outline the business requirements, rationale, and execution plans to achieve success.

  • Strong interest and experience in payment processing ecosystem.
  • Strong organization and operational skills and a technical acumen.


  • 5+ years of experience in a variety of strategic, analytical and operational roles
  • Evidence of progressive career development with increasing job scope and responsibility
  • MBA or other relevant graduate degree a plus
