PayPal is hiring a Principal Security Engineer for its Infrastructure and Engineering organization. We seek people with the desire and capacity to build and share expertise in the technologies of Access (VPN/Zero Trust/Citrix), Data Loss Prevention, Crypto HSM, cloud security services, and security architecture experience. We are looking to expand our infrastructure security team by hiring a Principal Security Engineer who shares our passion for information security on a global scale. We need a principal engineer that can challenge the status quo, insatiable curiosity of how things work with a breadth of knowledge across security roles. This role will focus on enhancing and scaling complex systems that that includes off the shelf products, multi-cloud solutions, SaaS solutions that puts automation and Infra as Code as guiding principles. We are looking for a security engineer to raise the bar for PayPal Infra engineering.

In this role you will:  

  • Work closely with multiple security teams providing expertise on design, implementation, and guidance on security tools.
  • Be responsible for assessing tools and technology that support access, crypto, data loss prevention, and cloud solutions.
  • Level up and lead our approach on design, Infra as Code, automation, and DevOps
  • Be a champion for security knowledge and education across our teams and broader PayPal.
  • Work closely with product and architecture on long term plans and strategy around tools and technology  
  •  Support and collaborate security requirements across teams building and developing PayPal products.
  • Interact with security customers and leadership on threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Be a champion for security with our customers and teams across PayPal
  • Help mentor engineer teams and further our knowledge through continual learning. 
  • Stay informed and work on solutions for emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and new controls and around security posture.

About You: 

  • Have 13+ years’ experience in security engineering
  • Have experience with custom and off the shelf security products
  • Have experience with Identity, Access, data protection, and cloud services
  • Have experience with security testing and automation mythologies
  • Must demonstrate strong ownership over issues, results and delivering on outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, and concurrent tasks.
  • Experience with building scripts, coding and playbooks supporting operations and threat engineering.
