The relationship team in Merchant Services department will be responsible driving the relationship and business for PayPal China’s top and branded merchants, and help shaping the clients’ international ecommerce strategy. The relationship manager must develop and maintain the executive level relationship with our top merchants, understand such merchant’s operating environment, discuss risk management issues; and as a result, make sure PayPal’s products and services meet the needs of the merchant business and well-presented there. Travel is needed on a monthly basis. Apart from working with external clients, this manager role will also require tight coordination with a wide range of PayPal teams including enterprise account management, business development teams, Marketing, Integration, Legal and Global Risk Operations, etc, to achieve the overall business targets. This role has the potential for excellent career development based upon stellar performance, and could be regarded as a successor role to head of relationship management.


Understand the overall industry trend/insight to insure PayPal’s business strategy fits the growth of such industry Understand the clients and regularly analyze the key clients’ business and operations, including future business direction, so that PayPal’s business interest grows along with client’s business growth Retain our key clients to avoid churn and be responsible for maximizing our share of wallet at client’s side against our competitors Responsible for cross-selling and upselling PayPal’s new product and services to meet or exceed share of wallet goals for the portfolio Work with marketing team in promotions with key clients for better business growth and retention Work with peer managers to leverage best practices and provide consistent high efficient sales skills


Key Criteria

Excellent direct or inside sales track record Experience in the online, eCommerce or payments environment. Experience in developing and executing on strategy. Experience in a fast moving, commercially aggressive operations environment. Great communication/presentation skills at exec level Fluent spoken and written English skills

Experience & Skills/Knowledge Required

Bachelor’s Degree or above from good university 10+ years’ experience of sales or account management in a credit card processing, e-commerce, banking/insurance, or payment environment. Internet gaming, online advertising industry exposure will also be considered Ability and demonstrable track record to beat the financial target via cross-selling and upselling Can work under stress Experience in analyzing data, trends and client information to identify product or service cross-sale opportunities. Demonstrated business development and consultative selling skills with results-orientation to meet/exceed assigned financial and customer satisfaction goals Familiarity with PayPal and experience within the merchant processing industry, particularly operational process.  Excellent oral and written communication as well as presentation experience.  Excellent internal and external communication skills with experience at the executive management level. Must be quality and detailed oriented, yet understand the level of detail appropriate for the situation.
