Configuration Platform team builds and manages the various systems that enable storing and serving externalized distributed configurations for all of PayPal. As an application moves through the deployment pipeline from dev to test and into production, the platform provides a central place to manage the configuration between those environments and be certain that applications have everything they need to run. This platform allows for thousands of configurations per day to be changed dynamically at runtime, enabling workflows that unlock productivity for employees & enterprise alike. You will work on building & managing products from the ground up to provide developers at PayPal a swift, reliable, and innovative way to change and manage their configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, grow, and be part of our high-performing software engineering organization, and be a hands-on technology expert.

  • Analyze, Engineer and improve stability, efficiency, and scalability of the Configuration platform 

  • Work closely with Architects, lead engineers and business on product design and features.  

  • Guide and mentor other developers in the team.

  • Drive a culture of obsession around customer focus and delivering a customer experience.

  • Be an evangelist and driver for technology innovations.

  • Take operational responsibility for the services/systems that are owned by your team

  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science related technical discipline.

  • 8-12 years hands-on in the following areas:

    • Java, OO-based design and development.

    • Design and implementation of RESTful APIs

    • Architecture principles for SOA, Event Driven and Large Scale Systems  

    • Strong skills in Spring, SpringBoot, common Java APIs and frameworks including JAX-RS, Hibernate, JPA and JMS.

    • Good grasp of Data structures & Algorithm concepts.

    • Database design, programming, tuning and query optimization.

    • Test methodologies and testing tools, e.g., TestNG, JUnit.

    • Experience in at least one dynamic language such as Perl, Python or Ruby is highly desirable

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.

  • Motivated and interested in delivering results, especially in the area of writing high-performance, reliable and maintainable code.

  • Ability to adapt to new development environments, changing business requirements and learning new systems highly desired.

  • Good team player, able to effectively work across multiple teams on solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements in a fast-paced environment
