PayPal is looking to hire a Data Engineer for the People Datawarehouse team. This individual contributor is primarily responsible for translating business requirements and functional specifications into software solutions, for assisting in contributing to and leveraging the technical direction for the development of integrated HR data applications and solutions, as well as providing consultation to help guide how new and existing software solutions are leveraging data.


Our team helps to power PayPal’s HR organization and broader senior leadership by delivering actionable insights, data products and people business intelligence at scale. Our customers include HR Ops, HR Leadership, People Analytics, Global Talent, Compensation, Biz Ops, Finance and executive leadership team.

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain relational databases for data storage and data mining of People data @PayPal. You will perform data warehouse design and testing, including data design, database architecture, metadata, and repository creation. You will develop processes and procedures for transforming and loading data into data warehouse and ensure reliability of information. Seek continuous improvement in performance of data warehouse and ensure security of data.

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of experience in Engineering, Datawarehousing, Business Intelligence

  • Experience building from the ground up – gathering requirements, designing, implementing, maintaining data structures for analytical use cases, decision support and business intelligence solutions

  • Expertise in Oracle, PL/SQL, Shell scripting and UNIX

  • Strong, proven understanding of systems integration, including design principles as well as hands on experience with atleast one platform integration solutions (Boomi, Webmethods etc.)

  • Strong desire to develop for data integrity, scalability, high availability and easy maintainability

  • Able to clearly explain technical issues, justify technical decisions, and write technical specification documents

  • Self-starter with innovation, integrity, strong work ethic and attention to details

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
