The Global Investigations team is seeking a highly talented, self-motivated and professional individual to provide daily oversight of North and Latin American internal fraud investigations under the Global Financial Crime and Customer Protection program. This role requires prior experience investigating complex matters relating to financial crime and employee misconduct, to include potential violation of PayPal’s policies and procedures, ethical misconduct, and/or criminal activity. This role also requires the ability to oversee and ensure a timely, thorough and objective internal investigation is conducted. This role requires a self-starter with the ability to operate independently and manage multiple competing priorities with difficult deadlines.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and partner with Legal, Human Resources, Ethics, the businesses, and others across geographical regions to ensure a timely, thorough and objective investigation is conducted.
  • Supervise end-to-end investigations, including managing a team of investigators to ensure that investigation strategies, research, evidence gathering, fact finding, witness and subject interviews, and root cause analyses are conducted professionally and to a high standard with discretion.
  • Draft timely investigation reports to share investigative findings and root cause analyses with stakeholders, including Human Resources, Ethics, Legal, the business and others on a need-to-know basis.
  • When applicable, report and refer matters to local law enforcement for potential prosecution of the subject(s).
  • Oversee the completion of high-quality Suspicious Activity Reports/regulatory reporting at the conclusion of the internal investigations, as warranted.
  • Provide daily real time mentoring, coaching, direction, and best practice guidance to team members relating to their case management and daily work in conducting end-to-end internal investigations.
  • Deliver verbal and written briefings to internal and external partners and key leaders regarding high visibility cases.
  • Support the Internal Fraud Program by building out reporting on trends and typologies, developing and seeking out training for new and existing team members as warranted, and supporting the development of systems to identify and prevent future incidents.
  • Other related tasks as required.

Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; law degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years professional experience, including investigating complex financial crime, ethical violations, conflicts of interest, theft and insider threat.
  • Proven ability to analyze large amounts of data in order to identify trends and typologies.
  • Experience working with data acquisition and forensic examination.
  • Strong experience querying relational databases via SQL a plus.
  • CFE designation a plus.
  • Travel, as needed.
