We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Engineering Manager for a technical domain that comprises of customer data analytics and ML/DL models development to support different business use cases of the “Customer Success Insights. Customer Success Insights Team is responsible for providing world class service to our customers via intelligent systems that are powered by data intelligence fueled with cutting edge technologies and ML/DL models. As an Engineering Manager, you will influence the customer experience for PayPal’s customers in 200+ countries by providing cost effective automated solutions. We are looking for someone who is motivated, versatile, and hands-on who can confidently lead and develop a team of skilled engineers on AI/ML and full stack development. The role also includes validating the design, implementation and timely quality delivery of smart cost-effective solutions to help PayPal business to grow. Experience in developing software for distributed systems with the high performance, scalability, and availability is a mandatory requirement. You should have deep technical experience in full stack development backed by AI/ML models. Business acumen, hands-on technology skills, excellent people management skills, positive work ethic and a collaborative mind set are few of the key pre-requisites for this role. You will be working with various cross functional groups (business, product, analytics, user experience design and engineering) and will require admirable articulation, negotiation and influencing skills given the level of visibility. Experience or awareness of the payments industry is a big plus.

The primary role of the software development manager is to manage multiple scrum teams, responsible for the delivery of world class distributed systems with the high performance, scalability, and availability backed by data science. This position requires background in software engineering, technical and people management. The successful candidate will work with the stakeholders to take care of day-to-day operations of a software engineering team and manage the quality delivery of programs within schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Manage global cross-functional team in software delivery, software maintenance and second line technical support
  • Validation of design, architecture, Implementation and technology evaluation
  • Keeping the team highly motivated to bring creative ideas and develop their core technical skills on par with industry standards
  • Validating and managing project scope
  • Project tracking, reporting and auditing.
  • Resolve project issues, communicate status and coordinate activities with peer teams across geographies
  • Ensure successful implementation, integration, testing and roll-out of software
  • Meet project milestones and timely release of software according to roll-out plans
  • Enforce established processes, technical and quality standards
  • Resource and project roadmap planning
  • Team administration and staff development

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in building scalable web applications
  • 3+ years of managing a team of Software Engineers in a global organization
  • Success in hiring, mentoring, and developing highly effective Software Engineers
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance
  • Solid in-depth knowledge of AI/ML modelling techniques backed by other data science technologies is a must.
    • Predictive Analytics using Java or Python, Data Visualization, Big Data, Natural Language Processing
  • Understanding of full stack development comprising of Java, JavaScript framework like React Js with Node
  • Experience working cross functionally, partnering closely with design & product teams to craft great user experiences
  • Solid experiences with CD/CI, unit testing, automated functional and performance testing frameworks
  • Good knowledge of restful API
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field, or equivalent from reputed institutes
  • Exposure to Robotics Process Automation techniques is a plus.
