The Manager of Indirect Tax in China will be reporting to the Indirect Tax Senior Director located at San Jose, California. The position will manage all indirect tax issues for China. The position will regularly interact across functional areas with management to ensure objectives are met by proactively partnering with Finance leadership, Finance Operations, Product and Legal teams to identify and resolve indirect tax issues.

  • Work with finance and accounting teams to implement and improve end-to-end indirect tax process and procedures to ensure accurate compliance and mitigate risks
  • Responsible for advisory support of the invoicing systems
  • Provide day-to-day operational guidance and timely address cross-functional finance and business team inquiries
  • Manage and support tax compliance issues
  • Ensure the consistency of tax computations and tax declarations
  • Provide strategic and practical tax advice for new business initiatives and offerings
  • Discuss and negotiate all relevant tax issues with tax administrations in China
  • Manage tax audits to minimize potential negative impacts and develop and implement strategies to defend tax positions
  • Provide information and tax expertise with regard to the interpretation of tax law, new legislation and planned change of legislation as well as its potential impact on the business.
  • Provide similar support above to other Asia Pacific countries from time to time.

Job Requirements:

  • 14 to 17 years of related Indirect tax experience in China (Big 4 or Financials Services experience a plus);
  • Deep understanding of Indirect tax principles, theory and interpretation in China;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Team player and self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision;
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills (SAP/BW experience a plus); and
  • This job requires international travel up to 10% each year.
  • Possible relocation to Singapore in the future
