The Enterprise Data lake team is seeking a manager to lead a team of data engineers focused on building (big) data and analytics solutions. An ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software development and data engineering with experience in leading development teams up to 6 people. The candidate should have experience in working in an agile environment and running bi-weekly sprints to deliver features.

Job Requirements


  • Manage and coach teams of highly skilled big data engineers
  • Build and support various big data platforms and services that processes and integrates data streams from multiple source systems
  • Participate in the analysis, architecture and design of Data Engineering Solutions
  • Be able to define and set standards for engineering rigor and help cultivate an engineering driven culture
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the big data ecosystem, and constantly evaluate the strategy in partnership with the leadership team
  • Should be able to help develop rapid prototypes and proof of concepts to facilitate decision making.
  • Be able to motivate the team to innovate and contribute to open-source project as need arises.

Experience and skills

  • A MS or BS degree in computer science or equivalent with 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in building large scale and distributed fault tolerant enterprise applications using Hadoop and related open-source Big Data Technologies such as Spark, Spark Streaming, Hive, HBase, Cassandra, Kafka, Elastic search
  • Hands-on technical leader that contributes to technical vision, software architecture, process improvements to deliver scalable big data platforms and services
  • Management experience in leading a large development team
  • Experience in building scalable real time systems and streaming solutions is preferred
  • Solid programming experience in languages like Java, Scala, Python, C++ or equivalent. Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting
  • Experience in working and handling with cross-­functional teams and geo locations.  
  • Open to handle teams across geo locations.  
  • Experience with all aspects of big data systems including database design, ETL, and monitoring
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL and one or more traditional and NoSQL DBs – Oracle, MySql, Mongo, Hive, BigQuery, Teradata etc
  • Experience in the Financial services/Banking domain is a plus.
  • Experience in Cloud Data Platforms – Google Cloud and other GCP platforms is preferrable
