The primary role of the software development manager is to manage multiple software engineering teams responsible for the enablement of PayPal development teams in public cloud and developing solutions to create the most secure and scalable public cloud deployment. This position requires background in software engineering, public cloud experience and people management. The successful candidate will work with other engineering managers to take care of day-to-day operations of a software engineering team and manage the quality delivery of programs within schedule.

o   Knowledge of various technologies and tools which are required to build solutions in public cloud providers like Google Cloud Platform, Amazon web services etc.; 

o   Facilitating and driving key technology decisions with senior technology stakeholders. 

o   Attracting, retaining and building top notch full stack engineering talent. 

o   Be a mentor, technical leader and thought leader for a talented team of both front end and back end engineers, challenging them and helping them grow. 

o   Partnering with product, technology, program management and analytics stakeholders to balance aggressive roadmap against engineering principles. 

o   Building a culture of learning and sharing technology insights across the technology teams. 

o   Driving consistent practices in hiring, training and development across the technology organization. 

o   Bring innovation to the table that helps in improving the resiliency of products you are responsible for, sell your ideas and be part of the change. 

o   Looking for continuous improvement in productivity and quality. 

o   Tracking business impact of features on a regular basis and rely on performance data to make informed decisions about possible changes or improvements. 

o   Deep collaboration with cross functional engineering and product teams to evolve the reporting platform 

o   Experience in designing, implementing and maintaining high performance, large-scale distributed and highly available applications; Experienced in building cloud management software platforms. 

o   Excellent communication skills and ability to grasp and convey complex product requirements or technical concepts. 

o   Ability to work in a fast paced, agile development environment. 

o   Ability to partner with multiple cloud and SRE organizations, product management, program management and cross-functional teams to deliver business results with agility and high quality. 

o   Experience building and managing highly effective engineering teams, conducting performance reviews, making compensation decisions and recruiting talent. 

o   Excellent time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities. 

o   Proven results-oriented person with focus on customer experience and delivering quality products. 

o   7+ years of experience managing and growing engineering teams (5+) that are responsible for large scale deployments in public cloud 

o   Solid knowledge of algorithms and design patterns. 

o   Strong Agile skills and proven track record for product delivery. 

o   Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast paced environment. 

o   Demonstrated development team building and people management skills. 

o   Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

o   Flexibility and an ability to work in a matrix and dynamic environment. 

o   BS/MS in Computer Science with 10+ years of working experience
