PayPal’s Tel Aviv office is seeking an attorney to join the team for a maternity leave coverage. In this role, you will primarily support PayPal’s business team in Israel and provide legal and regulatory guidance related to the services in Israel as well as in other markets in the region. To succeed in this role, candidates should be self-motivated, independent and well-organized with excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills. The role is temporary, and is currently defined as a 12 month contract.

As part of your role, you will:

  • Analyze, draft and negotiate commercial agreements (merchant agreements, partnership agreements, vendor agreements, etc.).
  • Provide clear, timely and actionable legal advice to cross-functional stakeholders on products and features, content and marketing campaigns.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to product, management and business on legal issues impacting PayPal’s products and features.
  • Handle litigation matters and court orders.
  • Address escalations of customer’s complaints and address legal questions from various teams, including sales, finance, compliance, customer service, tax, etc.
  • Handle corporate governance and corporate law matters.
  • Advise on regulatory matters, perform analysis of relevant laws and their practical implication to the company’s operation.
  • Draft online terms of service.

What we will be looking for in a candidate:

  • Law degree (LL.B from a top law school(, admitted to practice law in Israel.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing either in-house in a technology company or at a top law firm.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, experience in drafting legal documents in English.
  • Prior knowledge of law in the following areas is an advantage: payments, financial services, e-commerce, data protection and privacy, consumer protection, corporate law.
  • A strong communicator who is able to explain complex legal concepts and requirements to a range of audiences
  • Creative problem solver with a demonstrated ability to provide pragmatic legal advice, who remains calm under pressure and who can effectively prioritize.
  • Ability to facilitate a collaborative team-based approach with PayPal legal colleagues across the organization;
  • Capable of managing numerous projects and matters simultaneously under tight deadlines. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to tolerate change and ambiguity. 
  • Team player, takes ownership of matters, results-oriented.
