The Regulatory Reporting M&A Data Engineer's primary role is to interact with the teams involved in the regulatory reporting data infrastructure, to strategize, implement, solve, and execute data related solutions to support M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions) related projects. Common activities may include, creating data strategies, data migration/conversions, data mapping, and data profiling. Individuals in the role will have the opportunity to work in the Global Finance Regulatory Reporting organization with a focus on their business, management, and analytical skills combined with the technical skills to provide expert guidance on data strategies that are critical in solution implementations.

Responsibilities Include

  • Participate in discovery sessions with project teams to understand data requirements needed to support solution implementations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Regulatory Reporting M&A project lead in an agile environment to support M&A related initiatives, providing regular status updates.
  • Understanding a broad range of PayPal’s data resources and know how, when, and which to use.
  • Leverage system and process analysis skills to produce data strategies that create a seamless and efficient process with an emphasis on providing timely and accurate data to the downstream Regulatory Reporting team.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to generate data mapping documents between the acquired company's data and PayPal’s data.
  • Engage with the relevant data partner teams on ensuring data governance, data integrity, and controls are maintained, including their respective documentations.
  • Leverage industry-leading tools to extract, transform, and load data into source systems in an automated fashion to support change management (e.g. data migrations, integrations).
  • Perform data profiling tasks to collect statistics, trends, impacts, and summaries that lead to a structured and successful implementation.
  • Navigate through ambiguity, managing and coordinating multiple project assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, accepting ownership and accountability of the process and delivering on commitments


  • Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
  • Experience in large data warehousing with rich business analysis and requirements gathering specific to complex integrated data systems.
  • Understanding of database and analytical technologies in the industry including RDBMS, NoSQL databases, Data Warehouse design, BI reporting, and Dashboard development.
  • Practical hands-on experience with Enterprise Data Warehouse, Big Data, ETL, Data Analysis, Data Modeling, Metadata Management, Master Data Management & Governance.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to lead large projects and drive through completion.
  • An ability to thrive in a highly ambiguous, fast-paced, and rapidly-changing environment.
  • Understanding of financial and statistical regulatory reporting requirements combined with an understanding of KPIs is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work in Europe time zone and willing to travel based on project requirements (post COVID)
