The Product & Technology, China team is looking for an experienced infrastructure & network architect to join the team. The person will play a critical role in determining how PayPal’s infrastructure in China is designed and deployed. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and self-motivated individual with strong passion and experience in infrastructure and info security landscape in China, positive work ethic and a "can do" attitude. In this position, you will have primary responsibility for the growth and stable functionality in a large multi-national backbone connecting customers, merchants, partners, business services, and business units to PayPal services in China. You will work in a cross-functional team across enterprise architecture, product, engineering, operations, risk, compliance and more.


  • Responsible for POPs in China, as part of PayPal’s global networking
  • Ensure security and high-availability in network designs with emphasis on proper segmentation and control with Extranets and other business services
  • Define essential technology services KPIs and developing a regular executive success measurement reporting cadence – Good communication and ability to message tactically and strategically a must
  • Collaborate with engineering and other teams to scale and secure bare metal, virtual, and container infrastructure
  • Be equally versed and adaptable in large-scale enterprise web application stack infrastructures and public cloud environments.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and drive root cause determination in a variety of network issues.
  • Help integrate and implement systems monitors to our monitoring framework
  • Coach and mentor the team, continuously improve – Make things go, and go faster
  •  Manage vendor relationships for our network supplier in China


  • 8 years minimum Service Provider networking experience working with both internal and external customers.
  • JNCP-SP similar certifications from other leading vendors with equivalent work experience.
  • In-depth switching and routing knowledge. 
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, packet capture and flow analysis.
  • Experience with HSM providers in China
  • Experience designing and deploying a DC from the ground up is a huge plus
  • Extensive experience with BGP, ISIS, MPLS in a Service Provider environment.
  • Understanding of telco/WAN circuits and associated troubleshooting with carriers.
  • Network Automation Scripting or programming skills using Python or PERL/C/C++is a big plus.
  • Expert knowledge of Linux/Unix/FreeBSD, Open-Source NMS tools, Windows.
  • Ability to create structure and drive progress in an ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Mandarin speaking is a plus
