The Finance Controller is a key member of the EU Controllership team, responsible for maintaining and driving controllership with rigor and discipline. Ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance of the Luxembourg European HQ. The role is based in Luxembourg. This position will work closely with regional finance stakeholders in tax, treasury and Accounting COE for setting up and running controllership governance processes to support business growth in these markets.

Your primary responsibilities

  • Contribute to the external financial publication of European Headquarter of PayPal (regulated entity);
  • Prepare monthly financial information to the management and head office;
  • Support the annual budget process of the Bank;
  • Analyse monthly variances (Actual vs. Budget) and provide insight on product performance;
  • Assist and coordinate the external audit;
  • Perform risk assessments, identify improvements required in the control and risk management framework and ensure improvements are made in an effective, sustainable, documented;
  • Maintain and develop robust and efficient accounting and reporting processes and related procedures/policies in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations;
  • Monitor KPIs and KRIs in order to drive the performance of the operations;
  • Ensure the regulatory compliance of the outsourced activities and control and monitor its performance;
  • Collaborate with the Business to ensure compliance is built into products and initiatives;
  • Support effort to design, implement and improve finance reporting tools, processes and solutions.


  • Qualified accountant (ideally from a Big 4 and or banking background) with 5+ year professional experience;
  • University Degree required (Masters preferred);
  • English is mandatory; any other EU language is an advantage;
  • Strong IFRS knowledge, Luxembourg GAAP is an advantage;
  • Experience of working within highly regulated business environments is an advantage;
  • Master Microsoft Office tools, SAP experience, SQL would be an advantage;
  • Familiar with Financial services regulatory environment;
  • Strong problem solving skills and attention to details;
  • Excellent ability to analyse risks and recommend controls to mitigate those risks;
  • Excellent presentation and project management skills with the ability to successfully work multiple issues at one time;
  • Experience with regulators, ideally for banking environment is an advantage;
  • Working with shared services is an advantage;
  • High level of energy and creativity, an entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to work in a fast growth and changing environment.
