The internship will allow the successful candidate to be part of the Luxembourg Finance team, overseeing activities of the PayPal Europe Headquarter entity in Luxembourg. The role will be focused on developing financial controls and analysis to support PayPal Finance team in ensuring integrity, accuracy, and consistency of results. The intern will participate in overseeing finance operations of +20 entities in Europe as well as PayPal’s European payment processing business, with the help and supervision of senior colleagues. The intern will participate in building, coordinating, and documenting reviews and processes with various stake-holder groups. Depending on the skillset of the successful candidate, the intern will also have a possibility to support new PayPal products implementations and M&A integrations, in a complex, regulatory environment. The intern will have an opportunity to build performance analysis and presentations, as well as directly interact with PayPal teams and management, in a flat organizational structure. The internship is based in Luxembourg and will be 6 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in strengthening PayPal control framework by executing as well as developing additional controls and analytical reviews across PayPal portfolio of EU entities and its payments processing business
  • Own and coordinate monthly review meetings with various finance stakeholders
  • Identify and extract accurate data to prepare management reporting and other teams’ finance related questions
  • Perform analytical reviews on the products portfolio and PayPal key KPIs
  • Depending on the skillset, built and automate PP EU product reporting KPIs and reporting
  • Perform risk assessments, identify improvements required in the control and risk management framework and ensure improvements are made in an effective, sustainable, way and documented according to PayPal’s best practices
  • Monitor KPIs and KRIs to drive the performance of the operations
  • Assist in reviewing and assessing new products implementations with product and business teams
  • Support preparation end to end finance documentation for new products implementation
  • Prepare monthly financial presentations to support PP EU financial results


  • University Degree finalized or at the final year (Masters preferred) in Finance, Tax, Treasury or Accounting major.
  • Demonstrates high level of autonomy and independence – is able to assume responsibility and work with various teams independently, asks for assistance and clarifications when needed. Ambitious, willing to learn and go extra step to resolve encountered problems
  • Has excellent analytical skills – is able to deal with large amount of data as well as well as provide initial interpretation of results. SQL skills would be considered a strong asset
  • Has accounting basics (IFRS and US GAAP knowledge) and quickly understand new concepts
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Has high level of energy and creativity, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the desire to work in a fast growth and change environment. As such – demonstrates the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Technical skills in data analytics, e.g SQL, VBA, Phyton will be preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Speaks and writes fluently in English
  • Has a sense of humor and takes the time to recharge
