The Fraud Defense Command Center (FDCC) is looking for a collaborative and strategically oriented business & technical operations professional to join their team. The FDCC Fraud Analyst Manager will report to the Head of the FDCC Operations and will be responsible for driving a range of multi-disciplinary operating rhythms and transformation initiatives to help shape, implement, and manage the operating plan, strategy, and technical excellence of these organizations. Operating rhythms include development of strategic plans and progress against them, team composition/evaluation, team engagement/culture, and product & engineering collaborative excellence. The Fraud analyst manager is at the core of PayPal’s FDCC team. This role requires a strong business acumen and sound technical skills to manage a team responsible for triaging and analyzing macro-level monitoring and alerting to detect incoming anomalous fraud pressures. It requires overseeing and executing daily responsibilities related to monitoring and managing alert signals, ad hoc analysis, lookback analysis using new indicators, and communicating with relevant teams. This role demands building strong working relationships with all global functional teams including those in fraud risk, engineering, financial crimes, and InfoSec teams.     The role will actively contribute to PayPal’s Fraud monitoring and automation platforms by developing a monitoring and triage team of “first responders” to combat fraud and abuse pressure. We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates. Functional Skills:

•         Intermediate proficiency in any of these fundamental technical skills: SQL, Tableau, Hadoop, Power Bi, Notebooks, and other Scripting languages

•         Has solid level of knowledge in Splunk queries and logging sources

•         Intermediate understanding of networking concepts and principles

•         Can develop and enhance fraud monitoring and alert triage processes and capabilities leveraging existing and new platforms, tools and datasets

•         Will leverage their fraud business knowledge to quickly identify and remediate potential fraud using multiple indicators from a multitude of datasets

•         Attribution analysis across large data sets

•         Ability to expand investigation beyond initial data set or lead

•         Perform quality assurance reviews for investigations and analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of review

•         Prior experience investigating fraud typologies ideally at PayPal from either the Risk or Global Investigations segments

Business Acumen:

•         Will leverage their fraud business knowledge to quickly identify and remediate potential fraud using multiple indicators from a multitude of data sets

•         Familiar with PayPal’s major products, flows and risk checkpoints

•         Good understanding of PayPal’s business goals and how they can influence them in their role

•         Will work closely with the FDCC engineering team to provide feedback on alert efficacy, tuning opportunities, and automation improvements

•         Be data-driven, quality and outcome-focused

•         Network and build relationships with internal and external partners relating to fraud and the mission of the FDCC

•         Proven and demonstrated collaborative senior leadership skills including relationship-building and collaboration skills with clear ability to influence, gain buy-in and negotiate with a diverse group of key business partners/stakeholders including senior management

•         Can work independently and lead a team to triage and quickly analyze alerts and escalate as needed.

•         Contributes to the analysis and delivery of findings to internal teams with impactful security analysis in a clear, consistent manner with a focus on quality.

•         Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with co-workers and peers constantly demonstrating a positive can-do and one-team attitude.


•         BS degree in Computer Science, Information/Cyber security or related technical field of study

•         5+ years of experience in PayPal or similar Risk/Consumer-behavior companies

•         Excellent spoken and written English – a must. Will be communicating with technical engineers, data scientists, fraud investigators, policy experts and leadership across all levels
