We're looking for an Enterprise Risk Manager to work with the PayPal Treasury and BCDC teams to ensure that risks taken are quantified, transparent and within our firm's risk thresholds as PayPal moves into cryptographically-secured digital currencies.  You will be an essential member of the team helping ensure we use the right data, benchmarks and emerging best practices to manage key risks around this set of financial innovations.  In this visible role, you will guide meaningful decisions and have direct exposure to senior management across PayPal while driving the implementation of key initiatives related to risk management, reporting, analytics and governance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop subject matter expertise and guide PayPal senior leadership regarding identifying, assessing, prioritizing, and optimally managing risk in the crypto markets
  • Build and implement BCDC’s risk management framework including policy, reporting and analytical insights related to risks at the group and entity level
  • Manage BCDC risk governance and reporting for PayPal’s Capital Risk Committee, including establishing and monitoring Risk appetite tolerances, key risk indicator limits and thresholds, stress tests, escalations, and notification procedures
  • Collaborate with Finance Internal Controls and Financial Risk Oversight (Second Line of Defense) teams to ensure controls related to covered risks are identified and codified for leadership visibility
  • Design and implement dashboard based reporting and tools to enhance BCDC and Treasury risk monitoring capabilities
  • Be a contributor in business strategy development for PayPal BCDC
  • Collaborate with team members and external partners to evaluate and assess new product, counterparty, and financial risk
  • Deliver strategic advice based on competencies across risk domains (operational, financial, strategic, technological, and regulatory)

Job Qualifications (required):

  • Relevant experience in an ALM/Treasury/Balance Sheet Management/ Finance/Risk Oversight
  • Entrepreneurial and enjoys taking ownership of projects and being accountable for results
  • Intellectually curious, proactive, and able to work both independently and in small teams
  • Strong quantitative finance experience, knowledge of markets and financial products
  • Strong financial analysis skills in Excel or Google sheets and quantitative ability
  • Demonstrated passion for cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies
  • Able to develop initiatives through analytical and structured decision-making and execution
  • Ability to crystalize complex topics and present them to executive audiences
  • Comfortable with an agile and dynamic work environment

Job Qualifications (desired):

  • Previous capital markets experience in managing and developing trading businesses, lending desks, FX, rates and derivatives teams, hedge funds, asset managers, and exchanges is a plus
  • Previous experience or demonstrated interest in crypto is a strong plus. (For those with this experience, PayPal BCDC is the opportunity to apply your learnings to a platform of 403 million users)
  • Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools like Looker or Tableau is a plus
  • Graduate degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Finance, Accounting or Math is a plus, as is a professional certification such as the CFA charter
