The Product & Technology, China team is looking for an engineering manager to join the team in Shanghai. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and self-motivated individual with strong passion and experience in the payment landscape in China and must have strong technology leadership and experiences building teams from the ground up. The candidate should have the technical expertise to lead software and architecture discussions and guide cross-functional product and engineering teams through functional definition, solution, and integration stages on large scale. The candidate should possess deep understanding of financial services and associated platforms and technology. This position is highly visible in the organization and involves frequent interaction with the senior executives as well as all other levels and external stakeholders, locally and globally.

Responsibilities

  • Build, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers
  • Help define project scope and own deliveries
  • Be a technical subject matter expert and represent the full internal and external capabilities of the platform.
  • Identify any product/functionality gaps and collaborate internal product and technology teams to define the necessary development to support solution delivery.
  • Drive integration efforts and lead critical work streams of strategic initiatives sponsored by senior executives
  • Drive engineering excellency through CI/CD
  • Pro-active response in identifying and troubleshooting integration or technical issues.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience planning, designing, developing and delivering software related to platforms
  • 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager leading software development teams.
  • Strong experience in some of the following technologies is highly desirable: Jenkins, Docker, Mesos, Aurora, Kubernetes, Hadoop/Storm/Spark, Java, Go, Node.js, MongoDB, Machine Learning and scripting
  • Expertise in designing for reliability, availability, scalability and performance in highly regulated Financial Services industry preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to create structure and drive progress in an ambiguous environment
  • Superb communication skills; ability to comfortably interact with executive management
  • Demonstrated ability to scope, create and successfully deploy new strategy/ initiatives / capabilities
  • Strong ability to make decisions & forge alignment in ambiguous and changing situations
  • Prior experience in AWS, GCE or Azure is a plus
  • Mandarin speaking is a plus
