The head of Vertical and Partnership Marketing will represent the market opportunity across Australia and the European core markets to deliver more value across the two-sided PayPal network through integrated strategic marketing partnerships that contribute to brand and performance metrics. This role will deliver thought leadership and define new ways of working across the PayPal organization and with our partners to deliver comarketing as a differentiator and value driver for PayPal. The team will bring consumer insight to inform opportunities to achieve more focus and engagement against priority verticals eg gaming, fashion and by defining key cultural and commerce moments where a marketplace of merchants can accelerate spend and engagement. Manage regional and local event and sponsorships. Work collaboratively across the integrated marketing team to deliver holistic and integrated campaigns. This role will be a key partner to the sales organizations and will lead planning with sales to define priority partnerships and directly support and engage with defined Global Accounts and Tier 1 merchant partners as well as other key partners including financial institutions and other payment networks eg American Express. The lead will have a team of 5 direct reports that support the above functions at a local level. This lead will have both a partner and consumer marketing acumen and deliver marketing with excellence while bringing an understanding of the competitive landscape and continuing to take an outside in approach to informing what great marketing looks like. This role, reporting to the Senior Director Marketing Europe and Australia will be a critical partner across the European Marketing leadership team and will partner broadly across key functions including communications, product and sales to deliver ambitious commercial growth goals within these Countries. This role will also work in close partnership with global head of vertical and partnership marketing to optimize against a common set of playbooks, drive efficient ways of working and to define areas of incubation and innovation across the geographic portfolio. Success will be dependent on creating strategies that build a more engaged, active consumer base to fuel our two sided network with delivery of customer outcomes including new customer acquisition, growing the customer value of our engaged customer base and in growing the brand equity, momentum, and differentiation in these markets so that PayPal is positioned as the most highly valued payments platform & growth partner for sellers and businesses around the globe.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Deep understanding of partner goals that informs how to derive mutual value

  • Informing Consumer Communications Calendar and opportunities for partner integration across all content including paid, earned owned and partner channels

  • Define Briefs to Integrated Marketing Merchant and Partnership Activation for country initiatives

  • Top of funnel Activation (marketing outside of performance rails) that fuels merchant consideration and conversion

  • Partners for Inclusion in Growth Marketing campaigns

  • Events/Sponsorship marketing strategy & program briefs

  • Creative review, legal approval, media planning/activation

  • Ongoing partnership with to define plans and agree on key results

  • Manage Merchant pipeline list and strive for innovation and opportunities to pilot new activations with a  test and learn agenda

  • Tier 1 merchant strategic program development

  • Collaborate with other leaders to optimize alignment and integrated consumer experience across products that are part of the InStore (QRC, Shopping, etc) and Credit portfolios.

Requisite Experience:

  • min. 8+ years in Marketing Leadership postiion
  • Consumer and merchant segment background. Both online and offline experience high valued. Fintech, payments and ecommerce experience.
  • Global Operator with track record in working empathetically across multiple geographies
  • Portfolio Management experience and track record of managing complex Portfolios across dynamic products, segments, geographies
  • Commercial Owner experience in budget & P&L accountabilities, linkage of investment to growth strategies
  • Brand expertise and understanding of integrated marketing and comms strategies
  • Growth Marketer demonstrated capabilities in developing insight led test and learn approach across end to end funnel for customer and business impact
  • Customer Champion with demonstrated track record in designing marketing solutions with customer at center
  • Winning Consumer Strategies – you have implemented game changing ideas that have change the course of businesses and brands
  • Proven team transformation experience in hiring, retaining and coaching a team for peak performance
  • Brand transformation track record in the creation, transformation of a beloved global/regional brand
  • GTM programmatic execution across multiple markets with programs that have been scalable yet locally nuanced.
  • Payments, Retail and In Store experience would be a plus
