As a member of the Sales Enablement team, the Sales Training Director defines, builds and delivers training curriculum and programs to dramatically accelerate PayPal's sales performance across all global sales motions with over 1,400 sales professionals across inside sales, enterprise, partners sales, and customer success. The Sales Training Director creates, implements and manages programs to address skills and knowledge expertise in PayPal’s product portfolio, payments landscape and sales soft kills necessary to be a world class sales organization. Working closely across different teams/functions and managing multiple stakeholders globally, the director is an excellent communicator, project manager, facilitator and strong trainer/educator. The Director develops training programs with a multidimensional approach including face to face training, orientations, virtual classroom, digital media, podcasts, etc. to engage, educate and motivate adult learners. The Director is responsible for engaging with business partners to determine effective programs for all levels and roles within the sales organization including individual reps, managers, service agents, new hires and high potentials. Partners with HR and sales leadership to conduct ongoing needs analysis to determine knowledge gaps and training needs. The Training Director focuses on delivery and materials that engages learns to deliver measurable results. Training programs cover product knowledge, domain knowledge, soft skills and tools usage.

The successful candidate will be a proactive business minded individual who is passionate about teaching and learning.  The Director has proven skills to develop, lead and manage a group of trainers and instructional designers as well as agencies, both local and regionally based. Has the ability to work independently – from identifying gaps in training topics and design to developing new tools and optimizing processes across teams. Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to orchestrate many moving parts under an aggressive schedule are a must. 

The Director will report to the Senior Director of Global Sales Enablement. 

Scope:

  • Uses knowledge of Sales process and methodologies across different selling models ranging from inside sales, enterprise to customer success to design, develop, and implement selling-focused learning programs aligned with business priorities and initiatives to ensure effective delivery and relevance of content
  • Partners with members of the Sales Enablement team, Product, HR and Sales Leaders to prioritize learning objectives based on skills assessments to build curriculum and associated training programs
  • Contributes to the evolution and application of sales competency models for specific business roles related to selling as well as supporting the development of subject matter experts 
  • Builds and leads a team of trainers and instructional designers; provides team coaching and skill development on curriculum/training design, facilitation and ability to deliver training in a simple and effective way which fosters learner engagement and result.
  • Leans in with members of the Sales Enablement team to develop impactful, regionally tailored training content that will achieve the goals of the Sales organization
  • Delivers training programs for sales managers, reps, customer success agents and new hire onboarding.
  • Is able to incorporate selling tools, communities and social media platforms that enable learner engagement and connection pre- or post-training sessions.
  • Builds effective business relationships with various groups within the organization including Sales, Product/Engineering, and Marketing in order to identify internal experts whose knowledge and skills can be leveraged and scaled for the sales organization as a whole.
  • Builds a strong knowledge of the business, including internal and external trends, and keeps up to date with PayPal business, payments industry and regional nuances.
  • Is able to determine the best approach for measuring the effectiveness of learning programs such as consumption, learner assessments, accreditations, learning checks, feedback and sales satisfaction scores.  

Qualifications

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) 
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in sales or sales enablement developing sales training programs in a technology company, working with sales leaders to develop educational training solutions to improve competencies.
  • Prefer prior experience in sales or sales/service management managing and coaching sales and client facing teams, working closely with clients and driving revenue targets
  • Passionate about training delivery / experience of delivering training and / or presenting and facilitating content to large groups.
  • Knowledge of selling tools (e.g. CRM, Seismic, MindTickle, Portals), process (e.g. account planning) and skills (e.g. solution/consultative selling, storytelling/communication, white boarding, customer development, opportunity development, selling fundamentals)
  • Strong, polished executive presence and business acumen a must.
  • Experience working with strategic partners and industry and/or regulator subject matter preferred.
  • Passion for teaching and facilitation and providing the best learning experiences for adult learners. 
  • Experience delivering formal or informal learning programs using single channel or blended approaches, including virtual and classroom-based instructor-led training (ILT), peer-to-peer learning, on-the-job learning and eLearning
  • Proven ability to increase learner engagement in course facilitation, social media and communities.
  • Ability to comprehend and translate complex technical concepts into terms that are easy to understand for non-industry audiences in an influential and persuasive manner.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and consulting skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management, relationship management and influencing skills at all levels in an organization.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapidly changing content and strategies.
  • Experience managing budgets and quantifying ROI for key initiatives
  • Location is USA and requires willingness and ability to travel up to 50% as needed to deliver training.
