​The Brand Strategy and Branding team has embarked on a journey to redefine PayPal’s role in the world and how it manifests itself to current and prospect customers. The Brand Strategy Director will be responsible for the development and implementation of the brand and consumer positioning to increase brand awareness, consideration, and advocacy around the PayPal brand, elevate the marketing outcomes and eventually drive business growth. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires close partnership across many teams including Product and Product Marketing, Research, Sales, Comms, to define brand marketing strategies and narratives, identify best practices, develop presentations and case studies to push the brand and the consumer segment forward.  The candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-moving environment. They are a results-oriented, highly motivated, hands-on leader able to set a vision to drive change internally and be able to develop and implement complex projects. They are an avid reader, active researcher, innovative thinker, and a compulsive writer. They must be flexible and have a “can do”, positive attitude and be passionate about selling a vision to senior executives.

  • Responsible for the development of Brand Strategy at a Brand and Consumer Segment Level and support the evolution of our narratives in partnership with our Communications Team 

  • Partner with the Market Research team to evolve our set of tools to measure Brand Health, Brand Sentiment, Brand Trust, and Brand Advocacy.  

  • Develop brand marketing strategies connected to corporate initiatives including opportunity assessment and outcomes 

  • Partner with the Consumer Marketing teams to inform go to market strategies, define goals and core insights to deliver elevated briefs to internal creative teams and external partners 

  • Build and nurture strong and trusting relationships with Sales to establish the role as a critical component to drive positive impact for the organization. 

  • Support and where necessary lead relationship with PayPal brand strategy agencies 

  • Build and operationalize consumer learning plan to ensure ongoing target audience insight and understanding at a team, interdepartmental, and corporate level. 

  • Develop deep level understanding of competitive activities and reflect in ongoing marketing approaches 

  • Consult, train and partner with domestic and international teams to ensure marketing excellence 

  • Bring outside in thinking and inspiration to PayPal to drive new benchmarks in creative excellence. Bring new expertise to the team to inspire the deployment of breakthrough ideas and creative impact. 

  • Support internal teams on branding requirements in positioning PayPal as a strong Employee Brand and as a trusted partner in the Global Fintech Ecosystem. Support our internal Affinity groups in building their identity and sub-brands for the groups that embody the values and culture of PayPal
