Design Manager


We're looking for an established design manager to drive the design strategy and foster a culture of craft excellence within our Partnerships product area.

The Partnerships product area is a new area within our Point-of-Sale business domain and we are looking for a Design Manager with previous experience or ability in growing teams and defining product strategy.
 

This area is where we focus on building an ecosystem of integrations around iZettle’s in-store point-of-sale to become the hub for all business needs for the users.  These integrations are the base of our omni-channel offering. This is becoming more and more critical in times when the customers focus is rapidly shifting to online shopping.


What you’ll do:

  • You will divide your time between driving the overall Partnerships design strategy as well as managing between 2 to 5 designers across multiple teams.

  • You will oversee the end-to-end experience within the Partnerships area defining how all of the products within the area work together whilst ensuring that user needs are understood, business objectives are clear, design solutions are appropriate and the final quality is high.

  • You will jointly lead the vision for the Partnerships area alongside your product and engineering counterparts, providing the mission and expected outcomes for the teams - ensuring they're pursuing achievable, measurable and impactful goals that positively impact the larger business strategy and the needs of users.

  • You will together with your tech and product counterparts, make sure the teams in your care are healthy and look after their well-being.

  • You will be accountable for design quality and cohesion across the partnerships products, and flag quality concerns when necessary to the responsible designers.

  • You will help and create a space where great design and product development work can happen. Establish a culture of collaboration, critique and measurable product impact.

  • Provide regular, direct and impactful feedback in design critiques, while additionally engaging individual designers within your care to help them grow their skills and design toolkit.

  • Drive craft and designer development in the Partnerships area by establishing the parameters for success. Guide, coach and mentor designers in processes and techniques and hold them accountable.



Who you are:

  • You have previous experience in managing designers and teams and driving strategy across teams and product domains.

  • You are a design enabler - developing, training and nurturing the employees and craft through guidance, coaching and mentorship.

  • You move seamlessly between the 1000ft level strategy discussions, the 50ft level of flow and structure and 1ft level of pixels without losing your place.

  • You are a design advocate - providing a strong voice for design within product development - educating non-designers to help them understand the nature of Design’s contribution, how Design works best, and how to integrate it in the flow of cross-functional work.

  • You are able to take responsibility for applying and improving a defined design processes and systems. Show good judgment and flexibility in putting them to work. Use them to educate your cross-functional teams and fellow designers on how best to approach problems, experiment towards solutions, solicit feedback and drive for impactful outcomes.

  • Helps fellow designers advocate for best practices and solutions with their teams, providing a strong voice for design within product development.
