As an MTS, Datacenter Network Engineer of Global Network Services, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to design and implement data center networks, while supporting and enhancing current network infrastructure.
This position is part of PayPal's TPX organization. We deliver a seamlessly scalable,
exceptionally efficient, highly reliable infrastructure and services platform in a hybrid cloud
environment. The infrastructure engineering team designs, delivers and operates large-
scale private and public cloud infrastructure for PayPal development and production
environments. This is one of the largest hybrid cloud infrastructures in the world and runs
on multiple technology stacks.
Core Network Services team responsible for architecture, design, and develop global site
network to enable PayPal to serve customers in 200 countries across the globe. We are the
team responsible to deliver global network footprint to deliver uninterrupted services to
our customers. As part of our next generation network transformation journey we are
seeking seasoned, passionate, and multi-faucet candidate to join the Global Network
Services team at PayPal.
The engineer will interact closely with different development and operational teams at PayPal to drive the Global Network Services infrastructure from definition through delivery.
Job Requirements:
Monitor network health while coordinating maintenance/change efforts
Interface with internal teams, customers, and partners
Drive data center network architecture and implementation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business unit leadership in
developing project objectives and timelines
Troubleshoot internal/external connectivity issues
Work with vendors, clients, carriers and technical staff on network
implementation, optimization, and ongoing network management
Provide high-level support and technical expertise in networking technology,
including LAN/WAN hardware, routers, switches and firewalls
Drive detailed definition of feature requirements through discussions with
product managers and customers.
A Positive "can do" attitude with the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas
and see them to fruition
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware is required
Experience in network engineering/operations for large scale production
Emphasis in network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing,
security, Internet protocols and TCP/IP
Detailed understanding of L3 routing protocols OSPF & BGP
Multi-Vendor deployment experience preferred (whitebox is a plus)
Scripting/Automation knowledge (preferably python)
Ability to design and implement newly defined infrastructures
Ability to support & troubleshoot the network for L2/L3 connectivity issues
Solid understanding of load balancing mechanics
Firewall or DDOS experience is a plus
Knowledge of Hybrid Cloud and support
Strong experience with DevOps automation (Ansible or Puppet preferred)
Public Cloud networking (GCP, AWS, Azure) is a plus
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors and/or Masters in computer science OR related field of study
4+ years of solid networking experience with proven track record
CCNP certification or greater preferred
