The team is a multi-disciplinary Data Science R&D team that holds a wide range of responsibilities from research, development, deployment and products’ lifecycle ownership of tools to help Decision scientists combat fraud. As a Data Scientist in Global Fraud Risk, you will develop and own E2E data science solutions and automated tools to manage payment cycle and help to analyze fraud patterns and to assist in creating and adapting advanced fraud prevention mechanisms in a global environment

In Your Role as a Data-Scientist, You Will:

  • Design, develop and own data science E2E tools and automated framework, integrate machine learning algorithms into E2E automation pipeline for the use of our customers
  • Own products’ full lifecycle; work side by side with decision scientists and data scientists to deliver world-class data science automated solutions from research phase all the way to production.
  • Automate data-driven strategies/solutions for PayPal risk management making sound decisions that balance risk, user experience and financial performance through the algorithm optimization.
  • Develop automated tools which could be used to reduce human efforts and improve efficiency
  • Identify and address problems and issues during the normal course of work and respond to risk mitigation needs quickly to solve issues with minimum guidance.
  • Look for improvement and innovation opportunities with business impact. Provide a source of high-quality ideas. 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers, stakeholders and peers across the Risk organization and PayPal teams and manage projects independently.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering field Or Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, etc.) with 4+ year professional experience. 2+ years of work experience in Machine-Learning, Data Mining or Statistics
  • Proficient Hands-on experience with Python, databases and SQL.
  • Solid foundation in database, common design patterns, algorithms and data structure - Advantage.
  • Strong in data science, analytics and problem-solving. Experience with predictive modelling, data mining and analytical tool.
  • Familiar with Java, Javascript, Unix, Big Data Technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive etc. - Advantage
  • Proven experience in employing engineering/analytics solution on real-world problems. Good business sense and logical thinking. Ability to synthesize information and generalize the pattern.
  • Proven ability to work independently; Delivery oriented.
  • Team player, effective interpersonal skills. Manage relationship with key partners across different functions. Able to collaborate with remote teams effectively.
  • Skilled in Presenting – can effectively communicate in large or small group settings.
  • Industry experience in payments, e-commerce, or financial services - Advantage
  • Excellent spoken and written English
