Program Insights and Visualization Analyst

The Global Financial Crimes & Customer Protection (GFCCP) organization is responsible for detecting and preventing financial crimes and providing protections and remediation paths to PayPal’s customers.  This includes supporting Holistic Risk Management (HRM), which requires data-driven insights to drive both regional and global program strategies and regulatory requirements.

The Program Insights and Visualization Analyst will support the technical development and implementation of metrics-based reporting and visualization, including internal management reporting, key risk indicator reporting, and board/committee level reporting.

The Program Insights and Visualization Analyst will work with program stakeholders to define the insights, data availability and recurring reporting needs for all GFCCP programs and specific workstreams, such as Holistic Risk Management and Regulatory reporting. The Program Insights and Visualization Analyst will partner with Program Intelligence and Data Management to develop end-user reporting and dashboards for all GFCCP programs with the goal of improving access to near real-time reporting and promoting data self-service. This individual is responsible providing functional reporting solutions that will yield high adoption rates based on the program’s distinct reporting needs, data relevance, user interface functionality and visual appeal. The ability to effectively capture requirements and aide with request prioritization from internal and external support groups that will range from technical specifications to non-technical data requests is a necessary for optimal results.

Successful candidates will offer a strategic perspective, sound business judgment, deep analytical capabilities, and a collaborative working style.  They will possess strong intellectual curiosity, a deep understanding of PayPal’s products and associated typologies, and experience with PayPal data systems. Skills in problem solving, rigorous analysis, and distilling complex and voluminous data into concise summaries will be critical. The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, abilities to manage conflicting priorities to a defined timeline, strong project management and communication skills. Demonstrated working knowledge in applied mathematics or similar quantitate analytics field, SQL, data visualization tools (i.e., Tableau, Power BI, etc.), dashboard development and relational database fundamentals is required.


  • Expertise in the underlying investigative processes driving the data to provide meaningful insights into the health of the GFCCP portfolio
  • Demonstrate experience in working on cross-functional teams to bring integrated BI solutions to life
  • Must be capable of performing a wide range of data centric tasks in a timely manner
  • Proficient in SQL (Intermediate), Data Visualization Tool experience (primarily Tableau), D3, Excel/Google Sheets (Advanced), understanding of Data modeling for Reporting. User experience, user interface or design background is ideal
  • Proficient in Tableau with using multiple disparate data sources and with advanced topics such as complex calculations, parameters, geographical mapping and performance optimization
  • Prepare, extract, report and analyze data covering a wide range of customer profile/lifecycle information from large databases (onboard, transaction/profile history, Policy/Risk/Protection interactions)
  • Design and implement innovative reports and/or insight approaches to identify business opportunities
  • Partner closely with GFCCP stakeholders on envisioning new reporting and defining the reporting strategy for the program whilst continually enhancing existing reports
  • Design and develop metrics-based internal management and leadership reporting for regular distribution
  • Perform ongoing analysis of program related data (KPIs) and trends. Occasionally develop ad-hoc reports as requested to support oversight of the GFCCP program
  • Meet regularly with global teams to communicate process changes, improve standards and procedures.
  • Create and distribute reports and other intelligence essential to GFFCP while also providing context for trends and patterns within those reporting packages
  • Use data to help management and operations identify and escalate business issues and opportunities
  • Work efficiently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
  • Rapidly adjust to changing requirements and business environments


  • Excellent SQL and Excel skills (including pivot tables, functions, macros, charts) a plus
  • Excellent reporting and business analysis skills (experience with data/statistical analysis tools such as SAS, R, Python a plus) 
  • Understanding of programming languages such as JavaScript and HTML as plus
  • Preferred data visualization experience using an Enterprise Reporting tool like Tableau, D3, Power BI, SSRS, Business Objects, Cognos, MicroStrategy               
  • 2 years of experience with database query tools, including Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL; along with basic understanding of data warehouse architecture are required               
  • 3 years of experience in analytics and reporting               
  • BS/BA degree in related field required or equivalent professional work-related experience.               
  • Strong communication skills and experience distilling and presenting complex quantitative analysis 
  • Experience with extracting data from multiple disparate sources 
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to present insights and recommendations persuasively. Skill and confidence in dealing with people at all levels of the organization are essential              
  • Creative problem solver, analytic thinker, and ability to learn new and complex concepts quickly   
  • Willing to learn new tools and business processes             
  • Excellent English, both written and oral, as the role involves working as part of a global team               
  • Requires a basic understanding of standard business practices related to Risk Management, Consumer Protection Compliance processes and systems
