The Transformation Enablement & Measurement team is seeking an experienced Data Engineer/ Java Developer to help drive the Product & Platform Datamart (PPDM) forward. We are looking for a Data Engineer / Java Developer to work with the Business and Product/Platforms development teams to manage the backend infrastructure. The responsibilities of the Data Engineer / Java Developer include building ETL pipelines from varied sources, creating technical solutions, creating and managing data dictionary, support maintaining data architecture, and conducting tests. To be successful as a Data Engineer / Java Developer, you should have a broad understanding of the business technology landscape, the ability to build and automate pipelines, strong analytical skills and the aptitude to learn and get up to speed quickly.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture using JAVA (Primary) and Python.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • A solid programming experience in Java, SQL. Will be expected to write Java programs, SQL stored procedures to pull data from various data sources.
  • Performing and documenting data analysis, data validation, and data mapping/design.
  • Reviewing and improving existing systems and collaborating with teams to integrate new systems.
  • Conducting unit tests and developing database queries to analyze the effects and troubleshoot any issues.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Relevant programming work experience in JAVA and Python.
  • A solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience in database modelling and schema design.
  • Ability to utilize a diversity of software packages, applications, and automated systems for collecting and managing data
  • Minimum Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 6-9 years of directly applicable experience; Master’s degree and 4+ years’ experience preferred.
