We are looking for a Manager of Corporate Communications who can help drive and evolve our business and financial communications programs; help us announce quarterly earnings, manage acquisition announcements, drive broad disclosure and awareness of key corporate filings, and help drive external and internal programming to promote understanding of company performance. We need a strategic communicator with strong financial literacy and the ability to get to the heart of complex disclosures and tie financial results to our strategic narrative. We are looking for a creative thinker, strong writer, experienced collaborator and flawless executor who will bring their capabilities and energy to our growing team. Equal parts strategy and execution, this role calls for someone who can manage multiple programs simultaneously while also ensuring that every single element ladders up to larger corporate narrative and objectives. Media relations experience, and a fluency in both internal and external communications are a must. This individual will join a dynamic team that operates in a fast-paced environment delivering high-impact work.

As part of the Corporate Affairs team, PayPal’s Corporate Communications team is responsible for sharing the company’s compelling story, commitment to values-led leadership and business performance to key stakeholder groups, including business and trade media, influencers, nonprofits, investors and customers. We partner across the company with teams such as product communications, leadership communications, reputation management, employee communications, finance, legal, regulatory, government relations and human resources to build programs that communicate our vision, explain our strategy and enhance our corporate reputation.

Responsibilities to Include:

  • Support the development and implementation of effective communications strategies and materials to announce quarterly earnings, acquisitions and strategic investments
  • Partner with PayPal’s corporate legal, investor relations and reporting teams to support key corporate disclosures including the annual report, 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K filings through message development and media relations
  • Provide informed and accurate background briefings to top-tier business and financial media; Serve as a company spokesperson (as appropriate)
  • Build a deep understanding of the company’s financial plan, business strategies, product roadmap, growth metrics and objectives to tie communications work directly to desired business outcomes
  • Conduct research and monitor media coverage of PayPal, its peers, and issues affecting the tech, payments and commerce industries to inform communications strategies
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive calendar of company announcements and communications to assist with strategic planning
  • Develop external corporate communications including press releases, blog posts and other collateral
  • Draft briefing docs for executives in advance of speaking opportunities and media interviews
  • Work cross functionally across the organization to identify compelling data and media storylines
  • Evaluate and manage non-executive media opportunities
  • Provide overall project management support to the corporate communications team to create efficiency and effectiveness

We’re excited if you have

  • 4-6+ years of experience in communications or public relations (PR agency experience a plus)
  • Previous financial communications experience required
  • Past success managing and executing strategic communications campaigns and working with media to build brand awareness and reputation
  • Well organized, detail oriented and adaptable
  • Excellent writing and project management skills
  • Strong interest in consumer brands, finance and commerce
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a team environment
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing business needs
  • Good judgment and attention to detail – particularly in high pressure times
  • Excellent ability to understand complex ideas and distill sometimes ambiguous issues
  • Trustworthy and able to keep highly sensitive information confidential
  • Position to be based in New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; San Jose, CA; or Washington, DC
