Engineering in Branded Experiences Branded Experiences is one of the largest Business Units at PayPal that is responsible for several flagship products and services - Venmo, Checkout, and the Digital Wallet.  We are a fast-paced organization going through rapid growth that is solving technical challenges at exponential scale.  With so much opportunity to reimagine the very nature of money, we are constantly looking for passionate and talented fill in skillset – iOS, Android, Java, etc. engineers to join our team.  As an engineer here, you will have the opportunity to reshape how money is used and treated. You should be comfortable working with cross functional teams to deliver projects.  You should excel at planning, developing and testing your code as well supporting members of the team with code reviews and technical guidance.

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • BS or MS or PhD in Computer Science or related engineering discipline 
  • 2+ years of experience, as we are hiring for various levels of experience, in software design, data structures, algorithms and design patterns 
  • Experience in design and implementation for reliability, availability, scalability and performance 
  • JavaScript application design, development, and testing experience.
  • Experience with web frontend technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, Webpack, LESS, Bootstrap.
  • Experience with web applications (Node.js) and building middleware on top of RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with stream processing ecosystem (e.g. Kafka, Storm, Samza).  
  • Experience with Hadoop ecosystem technologies (e.g. Yarn, HDFS, Presto, Spark, Flink, Beam) 
  • Experience with NoSQL/Document/OLAP (e.g. Cassandra, Aerospike, Elastic, Druid, Mongo). 
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms, software design 
  • Solid knowledge of popular JS frameworks and libraries including model-view-controller and Single-Page (SPA) (React & Redux (preferred), Backbone, Underscore, etc.) including concepts like ES6, asynchronous programming.
