Merchant Marketing Manager Lead, Canada PayPal is the faster, safer way to pay and get paid online, via a mobile device and in store. The service gives people simpler ways to send money without sharing financial information, and with the flexibility to pay using their account balances, bank accounts, credit cards or promotional financing. Role Purpose Lead strategy, development and execution of Canada merchant marketing programs to achieve objectives of enhanced user experience, engagement and retention, brand exposure and conversion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end to end management of the Canadian merchant base by planning and developing activation, adoption, growth and retention strategies to meet the set commercial objectives (revenue, transactions, # active merchants).
  • Advocate educate and influence stakeholders about your merchant portfolio; share best practices, identify synergies and highlight emerging opportunities.
  • Drive the customer insights and research program to identify priority segments and understand their needs and relevant PayPal value props. Share insights with the CA business to inform and support sales and marketing activities.
  • Partner with Product Marketing & GTM teams to develop sales enablement tools and assets to help drive conversions of our sales and telesales teams.
  • Working closely with the global creative & growth labs and communications team to drive brand and content programs to elevate PayPal’s position as the leader in digital ecommerce.
  • Drive the strategic planning and optimization of the merchant lifecycle program, and work with the global engagement team to guide execution of CA campaign optimization and development of new campaigns.
  • Support the global hub merchant teams as needed including the development the annual merchant marketing plan.
  • Own accountability for the delivery of planned programs and initiatives against all financial and non-financial metrics, including providing regular reporting on their status and performance.
  • Partner with analytics teams to evolve marketing dashboards, analyze program performance and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Steward all customer touch points, from websites and email campaigns to advertising.
  • Manage end-to-end orchestration, optimization and reporting of integrated digital marketing programs. Analyze funnels and marketing plan effectiveness, provide plans and recommendations to stakeholders on optimization opportunities.  
  • Write creative and messaging briefs, engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop campaigns. 
  • Oversee budget development, management and tracking for all programs. 
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts and service providers. 

Key Skills and Experience

  • +8 years marketing experience (highly relevant backgrounds include Fin services, Telco and Technology).
  • Proven experience delivering strategic marketing plans and campaigns that achieve specific business objectives.
  • Proven experience managing lifecycle programs to achieve business objectives.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing (including SEO and content marketing).
  • Experience managing marketing and research agencies.
  • Understanding of the Canadian business market.
  • Successful track record in working cross functionally & building effective working relationships.
  • Solid project management skills - ability to lead, develop and provide clear direction, prioritization, planning, influencing and working in cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success in an innovative and agile high-growth environment.
  • A strong verbal and written communicator.
  • Highly strategic and strong problem solver.
  • Highly analytical and comfortable with reporting and analysis of financial metrics.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent.
