The Consumer Financial Services team is seeking a senior architect to oversee the development of high-profile, innovative consumer products that help bring financial freedom and support to the underserved. You'll design complex distributed systems, help plan development projects, guide implementation, articulate the technology vision, and collaborate with product owners, platform teams, and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Design, understand, and articulate the end-to-end functioning of sophisticated distributed systems involving multi-platform user experiences, core domain services, internal common platforms and integrations with partnerships.
  • Document and articulate the technology vision for a suite of related products through diagrams, presentations, and informal information sharing
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Program Management, Operations and other stakeholders to successfully launch and maintain complex products
  • Innovate through architecture, API design, and data modeling to create systems that scale with increasing volume, partnerships, tenants, features, and global offerings.
  • Advocate for the technical needs of the product while supporting the goals of the teams and technology on which it depends
  • Assess existing code assets, and review API designs and pull requests for correctness, strategy, and non-functional requirements such as security, scalability, and reliability
  • Learn and apply internal platforms for capabilities such as account information, payments, personalization, communication, and machine learning
  • Learn and apply company-wide standards, best practices, and technology stacks to guide the team
  • Serve the engineering team through mentoring, guidance, research, and removing blockers

 
Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience implementing event- or message-driven distributed architectures and scheduled jobs
  • Experience planning and shipping complex software releases in an agile software development lifecycle
  • Leadership skills; experience providing mentoring and support to engineers
  • Communication skills in verbal, written, and presentation settings with a range of audiences both business and technical, individual  contributor and leadership
  • Familiarity with SQL, data modeling, and applications of RDBMS
  • Maturity in RESTful API design, familiarity with other API paradigms
  • Familiarity with Java and Java application architectures

 
Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with GraphQL
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and Node.js application architectures
  • Familiarity with Kafka, ElasticSearch, and caching approaches
  • Awareness of native application architectures and technology
  • Experience in FinTech, financial products, payment processing
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Integration Patterns
  • Experience designing systems that are observable from the perspectives of business analytics as well as DevOps
  • Awareness of and experience addressing technical considerations for global offerings including internationalization (i18n), local product differences, and multi-environment solutions
  • Awareness of considerations in establishing multi-tenant platforms
