We are looking for an experienced Application Security manager to join PayPal's Application Security team in Austin. You will be required to manage a high performing team of AppSec Consultants and AppSec Specialists as part of Enterprise Cyber Security organization to provide leadership and guidance to the team on AppSec consulting, AppSec engagement & Secure Product Lifecycle.

  • Manage a high performing team of AppSec Consultants and AppSec Specialists.
  • Manage and coordinate with various stakeholders and vendors as part of AppSec ecosystem.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team on AppSec consulting, AppSec engagement & Secure Product Lifecycle.
  • Provide technical coaching and lead direct reports and other members of adjacent support teams to the highest level of performance. Conduct security reviews, secure code reviews, and threat modeling as part of AppSec consulting.
  • Evaluate performance of direct reports and offer career development guidance. 
  • Handle escalations from internal stakeholders and manage critical issues to resolution. 
  • Collaborate with Security Architects, Product Manager, Program Manager and other teams to deliver high quality product. 
  • Assist with executive communication to senior leadership teams on status of Application Security programs.
  • Build relationships with Infrastructure teams and Software Development teams. 
  • Work with multiple internal teams to ensure products are designed and implemented according to security policies, standards, and best-practices.
  • Work as part of the AppSec team using Agile methodologies.
  • Lead AppSec SPLC programs such as the Security Champions program, AppSec Certification program, and numerous company wide security events.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of work experience specializing in Application Security, preferably in a consulting role.
  • 2+ years of management experience, within AppSec space is an added advantage.
  • 8+ years of IT experience, preferably in information security.
  • Experience in managing 24/7 global teams and remote employees. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience in evaluating team member performance and offering career development guidance. 
  • Experience in providing technical coaching to direct reports.
  • Experience in collaborating with global stakeholder teams.
  • Knowledge and Experience with one or more AppSec tools such as SAST, DAST, or IAST.
  • Knowledge of OWASP top-10 and a deep understanding of web application and mobile app vulnerabilities.
  • Experience in facilitating technical conversations between engineering and operations teams.
  • Strong knowledge of software release process and release pipeline.
