PayPal is looking for a passionate, self-driven AppSec Engineer to shape and promote proactive security practices as part of the Secure Product Lifecycle (SPLC) and AppSec Engineering team. PayPal’s SPLC Program is a set of training, tools, and outreach operations that are intended to help developers create more secure products and maintain a security focused development culture at PayPal. The AppSec Engineer will work with InfoSec and Product Development teams to identify and implement solutions. Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Drive & evangelize SPLC practices across the company
  • Drive & manage security champions program, training content and its delivery
  • Work with AppSec and SPLC team to develop solutions for AppSec Certification Program for developers
  • Design and documentation of planned AppSec products/solutions that ensure compliance with security standards and practices
  • Develop and test those products/solutions using Agile software development processes
  • Work with product teams to deploy the products/solutions
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with other team members
  • Serve as an AppSec advisor to product developments teams using SPLC tools
  • Help to evangelize AppSec practices during events like company-wide expos, cybersecurity related events, etc.

AppSec matters

Required Skills

  • Computer Science background with 5+ years of AppSec knowledge
  • Knowledge of AppSec concepts such as OWASP Top 10
  • Ability to read code and understand complex software architectures regardless of programing language
  • 5+ years of coding experience or knowledge in the following programming languages: Java, C++, JavaScript, Node.JS, Python. Knowledge about PayPal’s Kraken Framework will be a plus
  • Knowledge about security risks related with Android and iOS development
  • Have a passion to evangelize, train and drive an AppSec rich company-wide culture
  • Able to piece together smaller pieces of information to see the overall picture and strategy
  • Problem solver and team player
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills

Experience Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or Equivalent
